The field of integrated behavioral health (IBH) focuses on the interconnections between the body, mind, and physical actions. As such, IBH can include a diverse variety of topics, including mental health, nutrition, sleep, and substance use, among others. Because individuals with mental health problems often suffer from co-occurring issues with trauma and physical health, integrated behavioral health approaches may offer improved access to screening and assessment and intervention, and treatment services. This type of approach is particularly effective when adopting trauma-informed principles within the IBH framework, which is adaptable at the individual, family, and community levels.

Developed for professionals, this program explores how a trauma-informed integrated behavioral health care (IBHC) approach is beneficial for clients seeking services from behavioral health care providers. Related topics covered during this training will include adverse childhood experiences, executive function impairments, adaptive function limitations, choice-making deficits, gratitude, health disparities, mental well-being, optimism, poverty and homelessness, professional self-care, neurobiopsychosocial approaches, psychological stress, quality of life, resilience, loneliness, isolation, and stigma to name a few. Practical tips, strategies, and solutions will be shared throughout this training with the goal of improving screening, goal planning, and intervention practices. Empirically-based research findings and case study examples will be highlighted throughout this training.
