Presented by P. Randall Kropp, Ph.D., in partnership with Protect International Risk and Safety Services.
This on-demand professional training program on SARA/B-SAFER Overview is presented by P. Randall Kropp, Ph.D., in partnership with Protect International Risk and Safety Services.
This program focuses on Assessing and Managing Risk for Intimate Partner Violence using the Spousal Assault Risk Assessment Guide (SARA) and the Brief Spousal Assault Form for the Evaluation of Risk (B-SAFER). During this program, Dr. Kropp discusses violence against current or former intimate partners, one of the most common and dangerous forms of violence, and essential concepts relevant to conducting violence risk assessment and management in the context of IPV. In addition, Dr. Kropp reviews the SARA Version 2 items and administration and reviews the SARA Version 3 (released in 2015) and the B-SAFER.
SARA – The Spousal Assault Risk Assessment Guide (SARA) is a set of comprehensive, structured professional judgment (SPJ) guidelines for assessing and managing intimate partner violence (IPV) risk. Research has demonstrated the validity of the SARA (Kropp & Hart, 2000). In addition, the manual has been translated into at least ten languages and is being used in at least 15 countries worldwide (Kropp & Gibas, 2010).
B-SAFER – The Brief Spousal Assault Form for the Evaluation of Risk (B-SAFER), based on the SARA, is also a set of comprehensive, SPJ guidelines for assessing and managing risk for intimate partner violence but was designed for use by police and other justice agencies.
Upon completion of this program you will be able to:
