Jared Boot-Haury, PsyD, ABPP, presents a live virtual professional training program on Culturally Responsive Care with Asexual Clients.
This training provides mental health professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to deliver culturally competent and affirmative care to asexual clients. Drawing on the latest psychological literature, the course explores the unique experiences, challenges, and strengths of individuals who identify as asexual, including their diverse romantic orientations and relationships.
Participants will gain insight into common misconceptions and biases that contribute to the pathologization of asexuality, as well as strategies to avoid harm and foster trust in therapeutic relationships.
The training covers key topics such as the minority stress model as applied to asexual individuals, the impact of intersecting identities, and the skills to provide inclusive clinical assessment, diagnosis, and intervention. Case studies, role-play demonstrations, and interactive discussions will provide real-world applications of evidence-based techniques to affirm asexual clients’ identities and address issues like stigma, relational dynamics, and mental health concerns.
By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with practical tools to create a safe, supportive, and inclusive therapeutic environment that recognizes and validates the experiences of asexual individuals, empowering them to thrive.
