This on-demand professional training program on Introduction to DBT is presented by Michele Galietta, PhD.

DBT is a cognitive behavior therapy that emphasizes individual psychotherapy and group skills training classes to help individuals learn (and use) new skills and strategies to develop a life that they experience as worth living. DBT skills include skills for mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. This program provides an overview of the components of DBT and a discussion of how this therapy can be used to treat various client problems.

      Beginner: Participants are new to DBT or have limited experience, seeking an introduction to the modes and functions of DBT, an overview of its core components, and foundational skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Participants may be interested in understanding how DBT can be applied to a variety of client problems.

Dr. Michele Galietta is Associate Professor of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York where she served as Director of the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. Program from 2005-2013. Dr. Galietta is a researcher and clinician specializing in the training, adaptation and dissemination of empirically-supported treatments to community and forensic/correctional settings.
