On Demand | Self-Paced Professional Training

This on-demand professional training program on Forensic Case Illustrations with the MMPI-3 is presented by Martin Sellbom, PhD.

This intermediate-to-advanced program builds on the Evidence-Based Forensic Applications of the MMPI-3 program. This program focuses on a variety of in-depth case studies drawn from criminal, civil, and family court evaluations.

Participants receive exposure to how MMPI-3 information was integrated with other sources to address psycho-legal questions and provide associated forensic opinions. Participants leave the program with greater familiarity and enhanced MMPI-3 interpretation skills, particularly as it relates to forensic psychological assessments.

Participants receive advanced instruction in interpreting the MMPI-3 in forensic psychological evaluations and thus improve their professional skills in using this instrument in practice.  The MMPI instruments are among the most frequently used in forensic psychological assessment, with the MMPI-3 being the most recent installment.

Prerequisites: If participants do not complete Evidence-Based Forensic Applications with the MMPI-3, they should, at a minimum, have a good working knowledge of the MMPI-3 in forensic contexts.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • 1 Describe MMPI-3 interpretation skills in general
  • 2 Describe considerations of alternative MMPI-3 interpretations in light of other contextual information
  • 3 Demonstrate MMPI-3 findings in forensic psychological assessments to address psycho-legal questions
  • Intended Audience

This training is intended for individuals with a background in forensic psychology who wish to deepen their expertise in applying the MMPI-3 to a range of psycho-legal questions. It is designed for those who already possess a strong working knowledge of the MMPI-3 in forensic contexts, having completed Evidence-Based Forensic Applications of the MMPI-3 training (or equivalent). Participants are likely to specialize in forensic psychological evaluation and work with criminal, civil, or family court cases.

    • Advanced: Participants are experienced in forensic psychological assessment, regularly interpret MMPI-3 results in complex legal contexts, and seek advanced strategies for nuanced case conceptualization and expert testimony.
  • Practice Setting

Professionals apply MMPI-3-driven forensic evaluations within high-stakes legal and clinical environments serving criminal, civil, and family court matters. They integrate testing with records review, collateral interviews, and behavioral observations to address psycho-legal questions and produce defensible reports and testimony.
