On Demand | Self-Paced Professional Training

This on-demand professional training program on Conquering IPV Disparities for the LGBTGEQIAP+ Community is presented by Christie Jenkins, PhD.

Research shows that the LGBTGEQIAP+ community experiences disparities in some key areas as it related to interpersonal violence. Social justice-based interventions are best poised to make the biggest impact for this population. As counselors, we are uniquely positioned to advocate for the most vulnerable populations. As agents of change, we have to be culturally affirming. We need to not only advocate for our own clients, but involve counselors in social change at the local, state, and national levels.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this training, participants will be able to:

  • 1 Describe the challenges for LGBTGEQIAP+ seeking services for IPV
  • 2 Describe how to advocate for LGBTGEQIAP+ survivors of IPV
  • 3 Describe resources to better serve the LGBTGEQIAP+ community
  • Intended Audience

This training is designed for counselors who want to address disparities in interpersonal violence affecting the LGBTQIA+ community. It is suitable for professionals at any stage of their career and is especially relevant for those focused on social justice, trauma-informed care, and culturally affirming practices. Participants often work in counseling, mental health, advocacy, or policy settings.

  • Experience Level

This training is applicable for all career stages: entry-level, mid-career, and experienced professionals.
